Petmin USA is focused on the construction and operation of a $474 million Ashtabula manufacturing facility, which will be the first such plant of its kind in North America, dedicated to the production of a premium quality, niche commodity called Nodular Pig Iron. It will serve the metal casting industry in the Great Lakes region in the United States, as well as European-based foundry customers. Pig iron is used by the metal-casting industry to create unique metallic alloys used in the automotive, aerospace and aviation industries, as well as industrial equipment, infrastructure, and defense products, among others.
Commitment to community, collaboration and the welfare of our neighboring community remain core to Petmin’s strategy in developing the plant. The plant will meet or exceed all environmental standards and is expected to be the most environmentally responsible plant of its kind.
Petmin USA is a 100% subsidiary of Petmin Holdings (Petmin Group), whose principal anthracite operations are based in South Africa. Petmin Group’s major shareholder, Capitalworks Investment Partners, is an independent alternative asset management firm, with approximately $900 million under management from leading international investors.
The Petmin team has established its office on Bridge Street in Ashtabula Harbor, where the team has been warmly welcomed by the local community and strongly supported by local business.
The four founding pillars on which Petmin USA was established, remain the core of our vision and mission, that continue to energize our teams and partners:
To expand on a proud, hardworking and collaborative local workforce who will continue to focus on improvements and efficiencies that contribute to the health and safety, environmental and continued growth and success objectives of all Petmin USA stakeholders.
To continuously seek out innovative solutions that improve efficiencies, quality, throughput and lower emissions that all can be proud of.
To continue to be an environmentally conscious, and a responsible neighbor to our local community and business partners, through our continued efforts to enhance our projected global position as the lowest in greenhouse gas emissions per tonne of nodular pig iron produced.
